An 18-Year-Old Has Died After Crashing A Lamborghini During A Test Drive
A teenage petrolhead died in New York on Friday morning after losing control of a family friend’s Lamborghini. Samuel Shepard was behind the wheel when the Gallardo hit a guardrail at high speed, and was pronounced dead at hospital. His 49-year-old friend, Michael Power, was in the passenger seat and escaped serious injury.
Police said that Shepard had met the car’s owner in a car park and chatted about the chance to test drive the Lamborghini. Early Friday morning the pair went for a drive in Mount Sinai in Long Island, and at 2:25am Shepard lost control of the car.
Det. Sgt. Michael Fitzharris told Newsday ‘I think it was probably just a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for the kid, and this man chose to give him this opportunity.’
Shepard’s father said his son was a massive car fan, and had grown up around them.
