The 3 Best Brand New Cars for New Petrol-head Drivers!

Most new drivers start off their car ownership with used cars, and there are several advantages to this. There is a very wide selection of vehicles, including sports cars that have fallen to depreciation. However, cars like the e46 m3 and ‘06 mustang GT end up being a handful for a new driver in terms of maintenance, reliability, gas, and most dreadfully insurance. Several car manufacturers are making brand new cars tailored to the new driver. They combine practicality,affordability, reliability, and in some cases sportiness, making them desirable to younger petrol heads. Now, I am aware that getting a brand new car as a first car is not the most common thing world wide, but here are some cars that are great for new drivers.

1: Dodge Dart

The dodge dart was nearly my first car, and looking back it is a great package. It comes in several trim levels, with a base price of $16,495 for the manual SE. The SE has 160 hp, just enough to have some fun. Now, if you have over $22,000 to spend, you can opt for the GT model which has 184 hp and 170 lb/ft of torque. It is a practical compact sedan with some baby charger design cues, and it doesn’t look bad at all! The Dart also has a growing aftermarket, with turbo kits and smaller mods readily available. It’s definitely a great starting car for a young petrol-head.

2: Scion TC

The Scion TC is a car that I’ve had a mini crush on. The styling is great, it has a fair amount of power, and it would be fun to modify. The Base TC starts at around $19,000, and unlike the dart you have 179 hp across all models going upward. Ever since the first gen TC was released, the modification community has only been growing. This is a great choice for the young petrol head who wants a unique Japanese car to modify (scion still counts as somewhat japanese!).

3: Honda Civic

Honda is a great starting brand, and parent’s can’t say no to the most reliable car! The base LX manual costs $18,290, and makes 143 horsepower. If you have the cash, you can opt for the Si for $22,890 and get 200 hp. Now, it’s a honda so the aftermarket is huge. Superchargers, turbo’s, and all the boltons you could ever wish for are ready for you to buy. If you want a long term car that you want to build up, the civic is your best bet.

I like the tC alot! It is surprisingly spacious! comes standard with 2 sunroofs!

I like the look of the dart the most.

Good cars. They dont seem to suffer from what many of problems the other newer cars have. Like dependability and durability.

If I had to pick my first car out of these three I’d pick the civic
The dart isn’t reliable
And I don’t exactly like the look of the scion
And civic got that vtec

Volvo S60
Ford Fusion

I wrote my article about brand new cars for new drivers.

I had 500 bucks for my first car, so all of the above were “out of range” (apart from the fact that two of them never made it to my country’s market).
I got an old Vauxhall/Opel Corsa, cleaned it up, redid the engine (without tuning), got new tires and upgraded the breaks at the front.
Still had 20 left, for which I bought a cable to hook my cellphone up to the radio.
Comparetively boring car, but it does it’s job.

My first car was under $5,000. I’m fully aware that the first car budget is a broad spectrum, from $500 to $500,000 (#justdubaithings). I was just interested in looking into the ~19,000 fun cars and wrote this article.

I would say Subaru WRX for the more responsible first driver.

A 2015/16? I suppose it could be worth the investment if the new driver deserves it and is responsible! If my future kid wants a WRX as a first car, I’d get him a used starter car for 1 year so they can learn and bang the car up if they need to, then get them the WRX. Plus if they’re like me, they’ll be feeling out the car community and looking at other cars. If I had the car I wanted back when I was 15 I wouldn’t be super happy…
