Look at the Honda S2000 and the G35/350Z in the same initial years when the Rx-8 came, even look at a Ford Mustang SOHC V8 from 2004. In terms of MPG, it wasn’t far off from it’s competition. While they did improve in MPG and power over the years, the Renesis stayed the same, and eventually met it’s demise for not being able to keep up, and met it’s demise because of it.
There are flaws, but when hundreds of companies are working to constantly improve on the piston engine, and only a handful work on advancing rotary design and efficiency, it’s hard for it to keep up, but glad it can, even if it needs a break in production once in a while to reengineer it to bring it up to todays needs and requirements.
“Hello everybody”-ha gets me every time
But..but.. braaaaaaap braaaaap weights out fuel and oil consumption
1 reason why the rotary is not dead: Mazda is already making the next rotary-powered RX model.
We only have 1 Earth…
Education is important, but Rotary racecar are importanter.
I just hear: BRAP, BRAAAAAAAAAAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, BRAP, gear shift into 1st, release the clutch as apply mild acceleration, then…
“Hooooooooooooly Shhhhhhhhh*t”.
And that´s why the rotary is still around :P
Not wanting to hate but the people in these comments are so ignorant. No one said they didn’t like the way it sounded, and no one named the video “4 reason why I hate the rotary engine”. Wake up people! He just stated some FACTS and everyone loses their minds.
