BMW has a bit of history when it comes to the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este. Taking place each Spring at Lake Como, Italy, the event plays host to a plethora of gorgeous classic and vintage cars, but many manufacturers - particularly BMW - use it to showcase new metal or interesting concepts. BMW this week announced that it would be bringing two new concept vehicles to the 2014 bash: a car and a motorbike.

This is something we're very excited about, as BMW has brought some stunning concepts to Villa d'Este in the past. Just check out some of the company's previous efforts below.

2013: Gran Lusso Coupe

BMW Gran Lusso

Looking like a 6-series after a very classy makeover, the Gran Lusso - made in collaboration with Pininfarina - appeared at last year's event. There's a V12 under the bonnet, and an opulent interior with lashings of wood and leather.

2013: Concept 90 motorcycle

OK, so it's a bike, but it's still flipping gorgeous. Appearing at the 2013 show alongside the Gran Lusso, it coincided with the 90th anniversary of BMW Motorrad, and the 40th anniversary of the R 90S motorcycle, from which its styling is inspired.

2012: Zagato Coupe

For its 2012 Villa d'Este effort, BMW teamed up with legendary Italian coachbuilders Zagato to create this gorgeous Z4-based coupe. A roadster version was later made for the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

2011: 328 Hommage

BMW's 328 sports car - produced from 1936–1940 - had considerable success at the Mille Miglia road race, and was beautifully re-imagined in 2011 to coincide with its 75th anniversary. Under the bonnet sits a 3.0-litre straight six.

2008: M1 Homage

This modern re-imagining of BMW's mid-engined supercar is probably our favourite car the Bavarian manufacturer has yet showcased at Villa d'Este. Why? Just look at it.
