50th Anniversary Nissan GT-R Will Set You Back £93k, 50th 370Z Is £39k

Let’s face it: car companies know how to play with your emotions. The most common – and successful – way of doing this, it seems, is to introduce the words ‘exclusive’ and ‘limited edition’, just as Nissan has done with the GT-R and the 370Z.

The Japanese company has confirmed the (rather inflated) asking prices for the ‘50th Anniversary’ versions of its two sporting cars – and what the extra cash gets you. It is worth pointing out that there are no performance gains, purely cosmetic tweaks inside and out.

The GT-R will set you back a whopping £92,995. As for the 370Z, it costs a snip under £39,000 and should be a (slightly) more common sight on our war-torn roads as 22 right-hand-drive examples are destined for British dealers.

Marking the GT-R 50th Anniversary Edition out is the ‘Bayside Blue’ paintwork and white go-faster stripes. Last seen on the R34 GT-R, Nissan says this hue guarantees “striking highlights and deep shadows” thanks to “a four-coat, double-heat treatment process”.

Other niceties include new 20-spoke, 20-inch alloys with blue detailing and special badging, while the inside is awash with grey leather for the seats, steering wheel and gear knob. As for the headlining, it is finished in Alcantara.

We already knew a little about the 370Z as it was unveiled earlier this year at the New York Motor Show. Paying homage to the 1970 Datsun BRE 240Z racer, this is reflected in the two colour schemes: a white base coat with red highlights, or a silver base coat with black highlights. Other special features include 19-inch RAYS alloys.

First deliveries of the GT-R are due to start next month, with some owners of the 370Z having already received the keys to their new mount.
