Guess I’ll have to join in. The 2001 E-350 step van I drive for work gets 7 mpg city usually in the summer, in the winter it’s more like 5.5. Woo!
5.4 V8, 2-valve SOHC. It’s a pretty heavy truck and there is lots of stop-and-go in my route
(Just remembered the Shelby in the video has a 5.4 as well, although DOHC)

by early 2000’s did you mean the 99 cobra? i do believe it was the first to receive the IRS, which many of us hope to bolt into our foxbodys :D

2003 and 2004 there was the mustang SVT Cobra. It was a supercharged 4.6 4 valve with independent rear suspension , bit better brakes, and a bit better air management. A few actually had forged aluminum blocks. Also apparently they actually had pretty good times around the ring. Not as good as the 2000 SVT Cobra R with I’m assuming you where thinking of.
