“my car has an antiqued rear end.
my racing suspension for is too hard for imperfect public roads.
my stock summer tires suck all the time.
my gas mileage sucks.
my car’s exhaust makes me lose control.
I can’t short shift my car all the time.
I bought a manual-only car but hate stop-n-go driving.”

Maybe he shouldn’t have bought the car if he couldn’t just deal with or fix these issues.

I honestly don’t get this “sucks to drive a manual in traffic”. Well… where I live manuals dominate at about 98.% of the market (Europe) and I for one have driven both automatics and manuals, but just love manuals…. Automatics feel like crap. The only time I love automatics is when they are in a big luxury limousine like a BMW 7series or something and you just take off on the highway and make up loads of ground when going on road-trips with such cars. Other than that, I find automatics lazy and annoying especially in traffic and here’s why:

  1. Boredom leads to stupid behavior or sleep;
  2. Lots of times I am bored out of my mind anyways while sitting in traffic, so when the line gets moving, I at least have something to do like pressing the man pedal, shifting etc. (even better when stuck on a hill and need to release the E-brake first);
  3. On long trips, the monotony of driving on long straight roads within legal speeds could very well have my mind skip, zone out towards more interesting experiences or just send a sleep signal due to over-boredom (which is why on long trips, I either change lanes every once in a while, either take advantage of the unsupervised sections to “make up some ground”, pretend that I’m warming up my tires or simply calling it quits and making pit stops to sleep, take a walk or something to change the pace of things).
    Wow, look at the time! Next CT post! Cheers!
