8 Cars You Can Rely On To Survive Jurassic World
1. Land Rover Defender Adventure edition
On the remote island where Jurassic World is set, there ain’t a whole lot in the way of roads to get around on. So, something with mud-plugging credentials is a good bet; small wonder the film’s characters use Mercedes G Wagens. However, if it were us, we’d be more tempted by a Land Rover Defender, specifically, the Adventure edition.
It’s full of useful off-road gear, like beefy underbody protection and a snorkel. Also, if you get it in 110 Station Wagon form, you’ve plenty of space inside for some heavily armed mercenary/hunter types, should things take a turn for the worse.
2. Pontiac Aztek
A Pontiac Aztek has no off-road ability and no performance to get you away from a hoard of dinosaurs quickly. So why is it here? Simple, Walter White’s daily driver is so damn ugly, it’d scare any rampaging prehistoric critters the hell away.
3. BMW i3
This car won’t be much use off road, but as a fully electric vehicle, you’ll be able to silently cruise past any hungry carnivores looking for a tasty human-sized snack without attracting attention.
If there’s one thing we associate with modified Dodge Rams, it’s thick clouds of black smoke. In other words, the perfect thing to suffocate a moody T-rex who’s chasing you down.
5. Volvo 200 series
As we determined recently, the robust 200 series Volvo is the Nokia 3310 of the car world. As such, if a pack of velociraptors have you cornered and you’re in one of these wagons, you can just lock the doors without a care in the world. They aren’t getting through that tough Swedish bodyshell in a hurry.
The options we’ve mentioned thus far are all well and good, but what if you fancy something a little more Japanese? Mighty Car Mods’ Mod Max S15 Nissan Silvia is the answer.
Sure, it was intended as a Mad Max-style ride for the apocalypse, but with a V8 engine from a Holden Commodore, chunky tyres and bars across all the windows, it’s the perfect car for roaming difficult landscapes that are full of dinosaurs looking for a quick lunch.
7. Ariel Nomad
The off-road version of the Atom is small, light and nimble, and therefore perfect for evading dinosaurs. However, with no doors or windows to protect you from the outside world, just make sure you don’t stop for too long…
8. Hennessey Velociraptor
This tuned F-150 Raptor has plenty of off-road ability, is strong, and has a massive 600bhp on tap. Oh, and it’s named after a ferocious meat-eating dinosaur, so it seems a rather appropriate choice.
