The 800bhp SVJ Is Lamborghini's Final Fling With The Aventador

With the end of Aventador production in sight, Lamborghini is preparing a lighter, more powerful track special with functional downforce

A camouflaged Lamborghini Aventador, rumoured to be an even harder, faster version called the SVJ, has been spotted lapping the Nurburgring. The name, which stands for Superveloce Jota, hints at a very special final edition of the V12 supercar.

It would be lighter, faster and track-focused. Power would be stoked as high as 800bhp from the current 740bhp peak in the existing SV. Lamborghini has used the Jota name before, on a special version of the Miura and then on one of the most special iterations of the Diablo. And, let’s face it, another Aventador could never be a bad thing, could it?

The rumour mill is whispering of functional downforce being used to lower lap times, rather than just brute force. It was never Lamborghini’s way in days gone by, but we’ve reached the limits of what’s possible just by sticking a big ol’ engine in a wedge-shaped car.

The Huracan Performante used active aerodynamics to massive effect in its controversial Nurburgring lap record run. It’ll be interesting to see what the larger, heavier Aventador can do with the same tech.

Can it beat the 812 superfast as the most powerful naturally aspirated non-hybrid production car ever made ?

I don’t think that would be too difficult. Lamborghini might put a 7.0l V12 in the Aventador replacement, and with that kind of displacement or a track-honed engine in either the next gen or SVJ, 850bhp is entirely achievable

Hopefully the magnificent N/A V12 will live on in the Aventadors successor without any hybrid assistance, now that the twin-turbo Urus can lower Lamborghini’s average emissions.

How do hybrid systems ruin noise? They don’t muffle noise like turbos

It’s almost poetic and nostalgic to see at the end of the video the last of the front engined and push rod vette … Times are changing 😂😂

The Aventador is the next Zonda in the fact that when they say, “This is the very last version” we’ll think it finally died. Then in like 2 years there’s gonna be another special edition, and THAT”S gonna be the last one. But no, there’s that one customer commissioned version, but then someone else really likes that version too so they’ll make it like “2 of 2”. The reality though is that as long as there’s someone with enough money that wants a Zonda that badly, Horacio is gonna make them a car.

I don’t know if Lamborghini is going to be that flexible, as they mass produce more than make one-offs, but in the same case of an individual with a chunk of change and a want for a car, someone will make it work.

Nah it’s impossible … The new zr1 already has coilovers , so i don’t think the new c8 will have leafs , even more if the new vette will have a mid rear layout :)
