Another Former Top Gear Reasonably Priced Car Is Up For Sale
The very last ‘reasonably priced car’ of Clarkson, Hammond and May’s tenure as Top Gear Hosts is up for sale. Again.
By ‘again’, we mean that one of the show’s Astras was sold on eBay last year for a frankly shocking £17,800, so this one is actually likely to be a different car. Top Gear usually had a spare manual car and an automatic version to cover all the bases for its guests.
But it’s not clear whether this one, being auctioned by Coys, is the main vehicle or the spare. It was apparently returned to Vauxhall after the show’s demise and has less than 3000 miles on the odometer.
It’s kitted-out with a roll cage and five-point harnesses, while the airbags have been deactivated. They’ll need to be set back to normal before the car will be road legal again.
Vauxhall has donated the car to an auction raising money for the UK automotive industry charity, Ben, which helps workers who’ve lost their jobs, are struggling financially or mentally or after reaching retirement, among other things.
After the last auction we’re interested to see whether there’s quite so much demand for another Top Gear Astra. Time will tell; the auction is this Saturday, February 18.
