Aston Martin Is Building A Limited-Edition, 210mph Rapide AMR
Aston Martin is preparing a faster, more powerful Rapide under the AMR sub-brand, according to reports. And it sounds amazing.
This video captured a couple of days ago at the Nurburgring shows a Rapide development mule, complete with yellow AMR-spec detailing around the rear diffuser and exhausts, doing laps at the famous German testing ground.
The noise from the V12 is incredible, for one thing, and this will be a rare beast. Autocar writes that just 210 of the exclusive four-door grand tourers will be made; a reference to the car’s 210mph top speed.
A 50bhp increase bumps the 5.9-litre V12’s power to 595bhp and is mostly the same as the one that was crammed into the hardcore GT12 version of the old V12 Vantage. We’re told to expect a 0-62mph sprint of about four seconds and sharper handling to go with it.
This could also be the last hurrah for the legendary 5.9 V12 eargasm, with a blown 5.2-litre replacement already having debuted in the DB11. As this footage reminds us, the old boy will be missed.

AMR stands for Aston Martin Rapide, right?
Racing*
I believe it stands for Aston Martin racing. They’ve already built a super hard core rapide and Vantage.
“Aston Martin Rapide Aston Martin Rapide”
smh my head
So what Aston is going to unveil is the 2AMR?
Looks like they went to the Ferrari school of naming cars
Eat your heart out Panamera Turbo
When you need maximum Aston performance, but you have kids
Yesss
When James Bond has kids but still needs a car to reach his nemesis’s lair in speed and style.
Kids with no legs, because nobody fits in the back. Lol
Should call this car amr amr
I thought it was already revealed???
The grill opening and headlight combo really reminds me of the ND Miata
I think they showed it in concept form, along with the Vantage AMR
It was a concept. I Didn’t know that either, until today.
Concept, but it’ll be BMW like concept where production is basically the same
Aston Martin Rapide AMR. What does AMR stand for? Probably AMR-ica (America), the only problem is, Aston Martin is a British company.
Or Aston Martin Racing, how does that sound?
Finally
I’ve just had a James May moment… I mean… why the hell are they testing it on the ‘Ring? makes no sense to me!
Because it’s being developed by AM’s racing department. Considering it’s AMR, it’s supposed to be much more hardcore and probably better than competitors around a track
Dear Aston Martin, atleast don’t call it a coupé
A 210 mph sedan? I WANT IT
