Audi S3 With 800hp? We've Got Time For That
It's not an obvious candidate for 800hp, but having seen this S3 run, we're sure as hell glad it exists
Top tip: if you're buying a first-gen Audi S3, get yourself a 2001-2003 car, rather than the 1999-2001 model. Whereas the earlier S3s got 207hp, the later cars enjoyed a bump up to 222hp from their turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. Happy days.
Of course, you could just equip your S3 with a turbocharged 3.2-litre V6 developing 800hp. Then it doesn't matter what vintage of S3, or what hot hatch you come up against at the lights. Running 1.55 bar of boost and good for 0-62mph in 3.1sec (911 Turbo pace right there) this S3 is a true king among Euro tuner hatches. You really have to see thing in action to believe it:
