Is a score of > 10 and an urge for power also enough to become a mod. evil laughs slowly fades away.

I would love to be a moderator, as I’m on ct 23/7. I also have 27k points and I would love to help with making ct a better place for all the new ctzens that are joining every day.

That moment when even Car Throttle needs mods. As if car mods weren’t enough.

Well I am a few points away from 10k but I can be in line for being a moderator:
• I’m very loyal to this community, regular and one of the eldest CTzens around here (here since November 2011).
• I can create good and creative content although I never have done it.
• My day starts with CT and ends with CT everyday.
• I follow most of the CT staff and other popular CTzens on various other social media networking sites.
• Even though I’m midway in mechanical engineering and it grinds my brain like a .50 cal jackhammer, I still find time to browse CT. Although, I won’t be around here much during my exams.
• I was also a tester for the CT beta app and it was a great experience being an app tester.

I hope all these qualify me to be a moderator. ☺

Time on CT should definitely be considered more so than score. I think you’d be a great mod!

Why the 10 000 score? Some of us are hard-core users and don’t post a lot. If score included up votes in comments, that would make sense

Here’s why I don’t think 10,000 score should be a requirement for being a mod.

  1. Score doesn’t necessarily reflect quality of posts.
Take the “Any fans of the R32 here?” post on the hottest page right now. A week or so ago, an image of any GTR likely found on google images with a caption as such would have been laughed at for being so cliché. Now though, it has almost 1.5k upvotes. So, a user’s first post already has him 15% of the way there.
  1. Spamming content is an easy way to gain upvotes fast.
Again, this is slightly restating the whole “score doesn’t reflect quality” point from above, but I’ve recently been seeing new users get scores of over 1k within the span of about three hours of joining because of spamming old content or reposts.
  1. One can still be highly active on carthrottle and have a low(ish) score.
I’ve been a CTzen for over a year now and actively use it everyday, but I usually interact with others via comments and such. On occasion, I’ll make a post, but I don’t do so often. As a result, I only have about 2.5k score.
  1. Experience time-wise trumps score (in my opinion).
As long as someone has been actively posting and using CarThrottle over a long period of time, they will have much more experience under their belt even if they don’t have such a high score. They will know the community guidelines more so, and will be more well known and respected from within the myriad of users.

TL;DR I don’t think that 10K score should be a requirement because it doesn’t necessarily reflect user maturity and post quality, experience and time on CT should be considered

This post may or may not have been because I don’t have a score of 10K and I want to be a mod :P

Reasons being, I’ve been here for a while (over a year now) and I am more than willing to help the massive influx of new users become respectable and kind CTzens. I’m a consistent daily presence on car throttle and would love to help the website that I love to use so much become a better place.

I think my comment may be bugged as well, those points should read “1, 2, 3, 4,” not “1, 1, 1, 1.” Whenever I try to edit them they go back to being only “1”s.

EDIT: now they’re just bullet points, pretty confuzzled.

I have to agree with this. Some people with less than 10k points are better suited than those with or more.

Also, it just encourages point whoring. Which we’re all against.

I think I should be a moderator because I’m a moderator on the Nico (Nissan and Infinity) Forum. I’ve also been on Carthrottle for almost a year and a half, not counting the amount of time I was lurking before I signed up.

I would love to say that this is a really great opportunity for some lucky people. And for myself too! But anyway. I am extremely active. I mean “REALLY” active. I have already help some moderators before with some trolls. And I would like to think of myself as a nice guy. I encourage other people to have a sense a respect when it comes to overbearing posts. And like with my motto “words are not worth wasting on the rude and inconsiderate” I have a very thick skin.

If this was a vote situation and everyone gets two votes I must say one of those votes would go to you! Never seen a bad post or comment from you and that’s why you were in the first couple of people I followed! Good luck m8, have yourself a good day!
