The Best Motorcycle Adverts Of All Time
Let’s face it, superbikes can be intimidating. To get anywhere near their level of performance on four wheels you’re going to have to spend some serious money, and even then, most cars don’t stand a chance. So it’s not a surprise then that this base 996 gets a little too scared…
TV regulations must have been a lot more relaxed in the 1990s. In fact, it’s surprising that this advert was even commissioned. I guess it does have a slightly educational side…
James Hiller is one of the TT’s finest up-and-coming riders, achieving a scarcely believable 132mph lap average around the course during the 2015 senior race. So it would take a special kind of machine to phase a rider of his caliber. Well, Kawasaki certainly succeeded. Its 300bhp supercharged H2R reached an insane 206mph down the fearsomely fast Sulby straight. Ever seen a TT rider scared? Well you have now.
An effective speeding campaign is very difficult to get right without coming across as patronising. This message from Moto GP star Mick Doohan comes at the subject from a different angle, and it is nothing but eye opening.
This is potentially the funniest motorcycle advert of all time. What makes it even better is that it is completely at odds with Triumph’s very serious mentality. It’s also incredibly informative; I mean, who knew that fun was instilled into the bike by osmosis?
Another beautifully produced video from the Japanese giant. No speed limits, closed roads and Kawasaki’s new ZX-6R are a surefire recipe for sales success. If you’re interesting in seeing how this stunning ad was filmed, there is also a fantastic behind the scenes clip.
If you’re a dog lover, best look away now. Walking your furry friend while riding your 180bhp superbike is never going to end well…
If you’ve ever taken to two wheels, you’ll no doubt have experienced other motorists blindly pulling into your path. Selective vision is a very real thing and often keeps bikers awake at night. This advert does a really good job of conveying that sense of invisibility.
To showcase the fearsome acceleration of the new S1000RR superbike, BMW thought it would take on the old trick of pulling a tablecloth out from under a fully set table. The results were pretty impressive and sent this video viral. A true marketing win for the Bavarian company.
BMW’s tablecloth trick might have been a viral success, but Aprilia was not so impressed. Then again, I guess tricks aren’t its forte.
Are you feeling down? Do you want to make some new friends on your local police force? Buy a Ninja ZX-6R. It’s guaranteed to solve all your problems!
