Chevrolet's First 2019 Corvette ZR1 Sold For Nearly $1 Million

In our second charity-related Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale update of the day, we bring you the news that the first production 2019 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 fetched nearly $1 million at the weekend.
A day after the first 2019 Ford Mustang Bullitt raised $300,000 for charity, the debut ZR1 went under the hammer for $925,000, a fair way north of the $119,995 list price. Proceeds went to the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation, which helps wounded veterans via the Building for America’s Bravest program.
The winning bid came from Hendrick Automotive Group and Hendrick Motorsports founder Rick Hendrick, who has previous in this area - he snagged the first Chevy Camaro ZL1 1LE for $250,000 not long ago, and has won various other charity car auctions.
The ZR1 wasn’t even the most successful sale for Chevrolet at the Scottsdale event. The first retail Chevrolet Corvette Carbon 65 Edition - signed by former US president George W. Bush, who was present at the auction - was snapped up by Atlantic Automotive Group owner John Staluppi for an incredible $1.4 million. Proceeds for that auction will help “post-9/11 veterans and their families make a successful transition to civilian life” via the Bush Center’s Military Service Initiative.
All told, General Motors raised just over $2.3 million for charity at this one event. Top work.

Corvette 2019! Heck yeah!
Let’s be generous and say the car is worth $500,000 (It’s not) but just say it is…
Now forget the car and can we just take a moment to appreciate that someone parted with an additional $1,000,000 for charity!!

What happened to the new gt that sold for over $2 million?
These Corvettes are sick, we are testing them at work and man do they older drivers love them.
Wrap your head around the fact that a Corvette just auctioned for nearly double the base price of a 918 Spyder 5 years ago…
Nearly a million $s to charity? I’d say mission very well accomplished!
Charity purchase? Tax write-off (granted only to a certain extent). Win win situation for everyone involved.
