After winning 9 World Rally Championship Drivers' titles, Sébastien Loeb will be taking a Citroen DS3 to the track in the FIA World Touring Car Championship from 2014.

Despite his domination of the rally scene, the Frenchman has made no secret of his desire to compete in track based competition. With the introduction of a new generation of cars in the series, the time was right for Citroen to make the step across, with Loeb the natural wheelman.

Again competing in a Citroen DS3, the current WRC car's 1.6-litre engine has proved an excellent starting point for the track car. While their first season will naturally provide a steep learning curve, the expertise in the team makes it hard to imagine they'll be anything but competitive.

With all that WRC silverware in the cabinet, you'd forgive Loeb a little arrogance, but he's remained surprisingly modest, saying "I don’t expect to win straight away, but I am determined to get there one day.

You wouldn't bet against him, that's for sure.
