The 'Confirmed' Audi RS3 Sedan Will Be A Stonking Junior Super Saloon With An Amazing Soundtrack

The 'Confirmed' Audi RS3 Sedan Will Be A Stonking Junior Super Saloon With An Amazing Soundtrack

For whatever reason, I find the idea of a super saloon significantly more awesome than a super hatch. As a result, I don’t find myself particularly drawn to Audi’s RS3 Sportback. But a saloon version? Sign me up. The good news is, something along those lines is indeed on the way.

Citing a “highly reliable source” within Audi, the ladies and gents at Car and Driver say that an RS3 sedan will be making its way to the US in either 2017 or 2018. This doesn’t come as a huge surprise when a recent leaked product schedule seemed to suggest that such a car would go on sale in August 2017, but Car and Driver’s report give us a lot more detail.

It’ll apparently share a 2.5-litre turbocharged five-cylinder engine with the incoming TT RS, a lump which will share precious little with the version sitting up front in the RS3 hatchback. An output approaching 400bhp is expected, as is a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Can’t wait to see it? It sounds like we might not have long to wait: it’s anticipated that the car will be revealed soon after the debut of the TT RS, which will be occurring at the Beijing motor show later this month.

This isn’t the real thing, it’s a render by X-Tomi Design. He has made a render of basically everything possible ever.

Hell yes, I can’t wait for this. It’s going to a tough choice on the sedan / hatchback now.

Hopefully they won’t run a ‘nightmare fuelling’ campaign to launch this like they did with the Sportback..no more R8s getting mutilated.
