'Cruise' Looks Like A More Intelligent Fast And Furious
Fast and Furious stopped being about street racing many years and countless explosions ago. These days the franchise is all about family, submarine chases and Dwayne Johnson’s impossibly large muscles, with the basic premise of the original nowhere to be seen.
That’s what makes the prospect of ‘Cruise’ quite interesting. Showcased in this new trailer, it’s like the original Fast and Furious mixed with Drive, and it’s set in the 1980s, which means there are cool cars to enjoy including a Buick Grand National and a second-gen Chevrolet Camaro.
It follows the exploits of Gio (Spencer Boldman), a young Italian American from Queens, New York. He falls for Long Island girl Jessica (Emily Ratajkowski), but naturally, things go awry when Gio gets involved with some shady looking characters, giving a bit of jeopardy by act 2 or 3.
So far, so predictable, but there’s a good reason to be optimistic about this film, even though movies revolving around cars are - more often than not - a bit poo. It’s written and directed by Robert D. Siegel, the man behind 2008’s multiple award-winning flick The Wrestler.
There’s no release date just yet, but expect it to be in theatres towards the end of the year.

Triple-X Baby Driver… I’m excited.
But mainly american muscle. Need moar JDM.
Epic!
I hope it’s not just drag-racing though.
It looks quite cliche and boring tbh
Emily Ratajkowski……im in, after all im sure we’ve all seen the unedited version of the blurred lines video!
I’d probably watch that movie only because Emily Ratajkowski is in it tbh
One more… Superfast movie
Dear god
The only thing i don’t buy is that this kid could have afforded a Buick Grand National at his age. He better be doin some pretty illegal crap in this movie.
Or has rich parents
What makes me more concerned is that those cars were made in an Auto only configuration. That means that he’s basically just driving in a straight line not doing anything…
Buick GNX you’ve got my attention
I’m sorry, but someone please for the love of God explain to me why are we hyped about this.
A cliché writen story, where a good girl meets a bad guy and turns him good. C’mon, that’s not only overused, that’s also wrong, and it’s a reason many good young girls get into bad boys and ruin their life, some on emotional level, some even start doing drugs or worse
Also the guy, oh don’t get me started here
“I’m a car guy, I like driving cars, having sex and I change my women more often than my socks”
If that’s not overused and empty than I don’t know what is it. It shows car guys on wrong levels. I’m a car guy and I’m a bigger virgin than most Fortnite players. I like to talk about Rimacs all wheel torque vectoring system and McLarens kinetic suspension more than I like to chat with girls. Hell I like to do that more than I like to eat, and eating is a must for a human.
This movie for me atleast, it’s everything an awfull movie needs to be
Downvote me all you want but that’s my 2 cents.
THANK YOU
Basically everyone here is like
OMG SUCH CARS SUCH COOL
when really if it wasn’t for the drag racing, this would be a EVEN shit ter movie than it already is.
Honestly the bar just feels very low right now with recent car movies. Not saying they are all bad with films such as Dive and Baby Driver being some of my all time favorites. I do think this new movie will be worth the price of the ticket though.
I absolutely agree. The fact that people are getting hype over this theme is frightening.
#MeToo
ehh… sorry, but I hear a V8 noise, and see a Turbo V6… what?
80’s cars are the best, am I right or am I right?
The Grand National Has V8 Sounds.
Already Ruined.
