What’s going on here replicates the effect of a ‘bump-start’ or ‘roll-start’, without moving the actual vehicle. It’s perfectly doable so long as the driven wheels are lifted clean off the ground, and you have a manual transmission that’s been left in gear. Oh, and you have to make sure you let go of the rope at the right moment, for obvious reasons.
