The Dodge Challenger SRT Demon Has Monster 315 Tyres Front And Rear
The trickle of information regarding the new Challenger SRT Demon continues to gently flow, with the latest nugget of info being a particularly juicy one.
It’s all about tyres. Really, really fat tyres. As in 315 width boots, at the front and at the rear. Yes, you read that correctly.
This has led to some speculation about the Demon going all-wheel drive, but we’d be surprised if Dodge managed to cut that 90kg weight it told us about recently and add all the required gubbins for powering the front wheels. What the hilariously large front tyre size does show us though - plus the teaser pic having a bit of a drag racing background - is that the Demon is about straight line heroics and little else.
They’re some rather special boots too. They’re Nitto NT05Rs, developed especially for the Demon. They’re also proper drag radials, making the Demon the first ever production car to wear such a tyre. Oh, and the sidewalls have neat little Demon logos, which is nice.
The new tyres are wrapped around 18 x 11-inch wheels, and the arches have been flared to suit. As a result, the Demon is 3.5 inches wider than a standard Challenger, giving the car one hell of a rear profile.
It’s expected to be revealed at the New York Auto Show this April.

Probably going the vulcan way and only let drivers use the car in track with their own mechanics.
