If you want to work on your car yourself, then make sure you build up this list of tools, which will allow you to do most maintenance and many repair jobs!
Is this specified for every car? If so, is there a list for NA Miatas aswell?
I found that most basic jobs on an mx5 just need a ratchet.
If i wasnt skint right now, i would have spent just over 300£ to get a full drill set, sockets and ratchets 3x spanner sets and all the other funsies. why does the look of tools make me so happy? they just look so useful
Thanks for sharing my video!
What about a drill, angle grinder, press or a welder?
That’s more for the occasional specialty job. Not really “essential”.
I work as a mechanic and I would never ever fit a oil filter with a claw tool because you will probably will over tighten it or crush the filter, also I would add a large 1/2 breaker bar and a set of 1/2 sockets for those bolts that will just not undo and a set of Allen sockets or Allen keys
This. Also I’ve personally never encountered an oil filter too tight to get with hands and a rag.
Normally you wouldn’t use it to fit a filter. But you would be surprised with some cars. I used to work for Audi and the filters on some of thier older cars were placed in such a position where it is impossible to get your hand in there. Only hand tight is required normally
Probably should throw some Allen key sockets in there too…
