An Even Faster Audi TT RS Plus Has Not Been Ruled Out
Audi seems to love offering a little more performance to the most power hungry of fast car buyers. Whether it’s a ‘Plus’ or a ‘Performance‘, swift Audi models with the wick turned up further have been a thing for years, and one of the most potent was the old TT RS Plus.
But what about the newly-revealed version of the TT RS that already achieves 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds (the same time as the R8 V10 Sypder)? Surely that won’t get an even faster ‘Plus’ option too?
Well, speaking to Audi’s five-cylinder product manager Annette Möellhoff at the TT RS’s UK debut today, a Plus version certainly wasn’t ruled out. She said:
“That’s always a thing we need to consider when we are further into the life cycle (…) right now we are really setting a benchmark with the 400 [hp], and we’ll see how that goes. But we always examine possibilities to enhance and revive the life cycle. There is nothing concrete yet. But that doesn’t mean [it won’t happen]. The R8 has a longer life cycle as well, maybe something will happen there to re-establish [it].”
Audi project designer Dany Garand meanwhile, doesn’t seem to think that having a TT as quick as - or potentially faster than - the R8 is an issue. “The TT remains a front-engined car. Even if the performance is similar, they behave differently. The TT will never be as flat, composed or extreme as the R8.”
For now though, we’re sure 395bhp will be enough for most…

What a time to be alive! I’m so in love with that new TT RS.
Dear TTRS buyers, can I be your plus-1?
Am I the only one who really dislikes the nose of this thing?
Yes.
Sooooo….its basically an R8 at that point?
To 60 yeah more or less but the R8 now has 600hp so the TTRS won’t have a chance keeping up especially in the corners
the fastet way to go to 0 into a tree
I personally love the TT so this is very exciting for me
