Ferrari 458 And BMW M3 Caught 'Racing' On A Motorway At Nearly 150mph
A police speed van on the M6 motorway near Todhills, Cumbria caught a couple of drivers nudging 150mph last September. A Ferrari 458 and BMW M3 “appeared to be racing,” BBC News reports, with the latter car passing the former at 145mph.
More recently at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court, 39-year-old Edward Hall - the driver of the 458 - was disqualified from driving for 12 weeks and slapped with a £1104 penalty (including costs and a victim surcharge). The M3, on the other hand, was registered Onyx Executive Travel, and company director Fasial Tariq refused to reveal who was driving the car at the time. Read into that what you will.
As a result, the firm was hit with a £1185 fine, and 27-year-old Tariq has been disqualified 12 months. Incredibly, he’d only been handed back his license 10 days before the apparent ‘race’, having been banned from driving for two years thanks to a combination of drink-driving plus driving while disqualified and without a license.
Cumbria Police Mobile Support Group’s Sergeant Claire Sampson said: “We see the tragic consequences of people driving too fast and it is our officers who have to deliver the terrible news to families.”

At my place we call motorways Autobahn and driving 150mph is considered save, normal and legal and it’s part of my job.
Apparently the rest of the world has different physics, or cars sold in Germany have some unobtanium brakes not present on others, we will never know, but 2400 quid divided between camera handling company and police coffers is nice too.
When a van gives you a speeding ticket, either your slow or it’s time for a revolution.
