Good News Europe: Chevy Will Only Sell Us The Exciting Fast Stuff From 2016
The European arm of Chevrolet, founded in 2005, will soon be drastically changing. It has mostly been selling uninteresting cars developed by GM Korea (formerly Daewoo) since its launch, such as Top Gear's Reasonably Priced Lacetti. In 2016, all that will stop.
With sales in decline, Chevrolet's owner General Motors has decided it's better off focusing on Opel and Vauxhall in Europe, which makes absolute sense given that much of Chevy's current line up is also sold under those brands. Instead, GM says it will 'tailor its presence to offering select iconic vehicles – such as the Corvette.'
We'd say the Camaro also comes under that 'iconic' banner, which means us Europeans will only get the awesome stuff from Chevy, and no more boring, rebadged runabouts. And that's a good thing.
