A Renault Kangoo Is Coming To Gran Turismo 7

Is this GT7’s quirkiest inclusion yet? It’ll be joined by an Aston Martin Vantage and Mazda CX-30

Yes, that really is a Renault Kangoo coming to Gran Turismo 7. We thought that could be the case when series creator Kazunori Yamauchi teased update 1.57 last week with his usual trio of silhouettes, and it has come true.

Is it the quirkiest inclusion in Gran Turismo 7 yet? We’d put it up there for sure, although it faces stiff competition from the Toyota HiMedic and classic Mercedes Unimog for that title.

More specifically, this one is a 2001 version of the MPV, powered by a 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine producing a whopping 74bhp. Don’t lose your heads.

Maybe it’s not all that surprising an inclusion when you discover the Kangoo has a bit of a cult following in Japan. It even has its own annual festival named the ‘Kangoo Jamboree’, and it’s nice to see that represented in Gran Turismo.

That’s joined by a car that screams more ‘inclusion in racing game’ in the form of the Aston Martin Vantage. This one is a pre-facelift version of the current generation Vantage, meaning its AMG-sourced V8 will offer up 502bhp.

Rounding out the trio of additions is… a family crossover. That’ll be the Mazda CX-30 X Smart Edition, which is to say it uses a 2.0-litre Skyactiv-X engine. That’s about as much as we can say to get you hyped up for it, and we’re a little disappointed in ourselves for wrongly speculating it could be a Hyundai i30 N. Maybe next time…

Beyond those three new cars, this is another light update in a chain of them from GT7. No new tracks this time around, although you’ll at least get an Extra Menu, which’ll see you collect three Suzukis. On top of that, Sophy AI is now available in custom races – having previously been limited to preset ones – and there are three more events in World Circuits to take on.

We’ll see if the patch notes reveal any unexpected surprises. Gran Turismo 7’s 1.57 update will go live on 27 March, around 7am UK time.
