Han’s Mazda RX-7 From Fast And Furious Tokyo Drift Slides Into Rocket League
In every list of the best cars throughout Fast & Furious, Han’s Mazda RX-7 will always find a way near the top. The Veilside-kitted FD is as synonymous with Sung Kang’s character as a Dodge Charger with Dom Toretto, and a Nissan Skyline with Brian O’Conner. Now, you’ve got a chance to drive the FD - just in a very peculiar way.
The orange icon is the latest licensed car to arrive in Rocket League, everyone’s favourite take on car football. It joins a whole roster of cars from Fast & Furious available in the game, including the 2 Fast 2 Furious R34 GT-R, various Chargers including the EMP-equipped car from Fast & Furious 8 as well as the Pontiac Fiero that rockets to space in Fast 9.
Available for 1,000 in-game credits (about £8, depending on your chosen platform), the bundle contains the RX-7’s body, the unmistakable orange and black livery plus a set of car-specific wheels. It’ll be in the game’s storefront until 29 February.
We’ve checked, and you can also use most other in-game cosmetic items with the car - which isn’t always a given with licenced models in Rocket League.
In case you wondered, it uses a slightly modified version of the in-game Breakout hitbox, which determines which parts of the car actually come into contact with the ball in-game. It’s not often in-game that a car gets its own bespoke hitbox, rather than another adapted to fit the model.
If you’re looking to fill out your garage with the rest of the Fast & Furious cars, the whole collection is also currently purchasable in the game. 3,000 credits will get you all but the RX-7, which hasn’t been put into a bundle just yet, and all the associated cosmetic bits. Each car is also available as a separate purchase.
