Here's The 1000bhp Monster Guy Martin Will Use To Take On The World Motorcycle Speed Record

People who go after land speed records are generally rather brave, but you might argue those who do it on two wheels are braver still. With that in mind, we’ll be watching Triumph’s newly announced effort to break the motorcycle world land speed record with interest - particularly given that the pilot will be none other than affable road racer Guy Martin.

The bike he’ll be using is a streamliner built around a carbon kevlar monocoque, powered a pair of 2.3-litre, three-cylinder engines - the same sort you’d normally find in a Triumph Rocket III cruiser. Only here, they’re turbocharged, meaning the ‘Triumph Infor Rocket Streamliner’ is good for 1000bhp at 9000rpm. Should do.

Here's The 1000bhp Monster Guy Martin Will Use To Take On The World Motorcycle Speed Record

It’s 7.8 metres long, 60cm wide and 91cm tall, and runs on methanol. To take the title of world’s fastest motorcycle, it’ll need to exceed the current record of 376.363mph, set by Rocky Robinson (is there a more ‘Murican name?) in 2010.

The attempt will happen at the Bonneville Salt Flats at some point this month.

Triumph attempts the speed record at Bonneville with Guy Martin on board, not surprised in the slightest, though I wonder what it’ll sound like

Yes, it only has two wheels, so its classified as a motorcycle.
