Hardcore Mustang fans of the world, avert your gaze - herein lie images of something many of you will find heretical. They show a test mule for the ‘Mach E’ electric crossover Ford is currently cooking up, which is intended to be inspired by the legendary Pony Car.

Although the prototype is disguised, it gives us a good look at how the styling should shape up. The most obvious Mustang visual nod is at the back, where we can see some vertical light bars.

We don’t know a whole lot about the powertrain just yet, although Ford has confirmed that the range will be 373 miles according to the WLTP cycle. This is comfortably more than the likes of the Audi E-Tron and Jaguar I-Pace.

The name is something of an unknown too. ‘Mach E’ - a reference to the Mustang Mach I - is the expectation, but along with that moniker, Ford has also trademarked ‘Mustang Mach E’. Either way, some will be triggered.

We won’t have long to wait until we find out for sure - the car will make its full debut on 18 November.

Idk, as long as it doesn’t effect the mustang and any of its packages, and this is coming from a mustang fanboy, I’m fine with this, those rear lights look pretty cool imo.

Seems to me that this is to the Mustang as the Urus is to the Huracan. The design language is there but nothing else, makes sense for marketing/sales, heck if anything this will just put more coin in the coffer for Ford to keep the Mustang alive, and with ICE options.

Not bad Ford

This is similar to the Mustang in that they both have four wheels.
