Here's Your First Proper Look At The New BMW Z4
Here it is, ladies and gentlemen: the BMW Z4. In a surprisingly revealing teaser image, BMW has previewed its new roadster, which will make its debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California on 17 August.
It’s a bit of a looker, isn’t it? With wide kidney grilles and triangular headlights it has quite a striking face, and we’re digging the aggressive kink at the rear of the door line.
Codenamed G29, the production Z4 is set to arrive in 2018, and yes, as you should know by now, it’s been jointly developed with Toyota, with the Japanese manufacturer’s end of the deal resulting in a tin-top Supra successor.
As revealed by a leaked document, the new Z4 should come in ‘sDrive20i’, ‘sDrive30i’ and ‘M40i’ variants, with the first two powered by turbocharged inline-fours and the latter powered by a turbocharged inline-six. Weirdly, while it seems the Supra will be automatic only, the Z4 will have a manual option.
All should be revealed on Friday. For now though, what do you think of the way the new Z4 looks?
Comments
Just a though but if both are on the same platform with the same drivetrains and the BMW will have a manual option, then it should be a relatively simple manual conversion for the Supra. Emphasis on ‘Should’.
