Lamborghini Workers Move To A Four Day Working Week For More Money, Many Others Jealous
As if building Lamborghinis wasn’t already a dream job, the Italian manufacturer has announced it will be introducing a four-day working week for those on the production line. Better still, they’ll be paid more too - rather than less.
As reported by Reuters, Lamborghini has reached a deal with unions that will see shift patterns alternate every fortnight between a four- and five-day week. Base salaries will be retained, though a 50 per cent increase in variable bonuses will be paid along with a one-off €1,000 (approx. £850) payment this month.
A statement from unions FIOM and FIM-CISL said: “Work less and work better, this is the principle that guided this negotiation”. That’s one we can get behind.
It comes as Lamborghini gears up for what will undoubtedly be a revolutionary 2024. The recently introduced Revuelto has reportedly sold out for the next two years. so there’ll be plenty of those to build. The added complexity of its hybrid assistance mated to the glorious 6.5-litre V12 surely makes it slightly trickier to build than the departed Aventador, too.
There’s a Huracan replacement due, too. That will swap the V10 we’ve come to know and love for a hybrid V8 system, with the 4.0-litre twin-turbo found in the Urus likely at its core. We can only speculate for the time being, but it could have potentially north of 800bhp to compete with the 819bhp Ferrari 296 GTB.
No word exactly on when that will arrive, but mules have been spotted testing and we’re in the final special editions of the Huracan, so it can’t be too far off.
Now, if anyone knows how to translate a journalism degree into the ability to handcraft Italian supercars, feel free to get in touch.
