Lewis Hamilton Got Into Trouble With NZ Cops After Snapchatting On His Harley

Lewis Hamilton got into trouble during a recent trip to New Zealand and was investigated by police after posting a series of Snapchat videos while riding a Harley Davidson in the country.

The three-time F1 world champion recently visited Auckland before jetting off to Melbourne in Australia for this weekend’s 2016 season opener, as the sport returns to action following the winter break and pre-season testing.

Hamilton posted a number of Snapchat clips on the app, introducing the motorcycles before filming himself as he merged onto a motorway.

It is illegal in New Zealand to drive a vehicle while on your mobile phone and this has been the case since 2009. Local police investigated the videos of Hamilton riding the motorbike but ended up letting him off.

A police spokesperson is quoted by various media outlets saying:

“Auckland City Police will be taking no further action in relation to recent media publicity about Lewis Hamilton and his motorcycle journey in Auckland. The video footage available does not provide us with sufficient enough evidence that an offence has occurred. We would like to reiterate our earlier statements that police take the issue of mobile phone use whilst driving or riding very seriously, it is a significant distraction and a major risk to all road users.”

Hamilton’s been involved in a few driving-related incidents on the road. He was fined £300 for doing burnouts in 2010, was fined and had his driving license suspended in France in 2007 for speeding, and crashed his £1.5m Pagani Zonda into several stationary cars last year in Monaco. He blamed it on “heavy partying”.

He wasn’t drink driving, or he would’ve been arrested. It was a cause of fatigue and he owned up to it.

The real question here is: What the hell are you doing on a Harley, Mr. Hamilton?? If you want a comfortable American cruiser with balls to back it up, ride a Victory or Indian.

No evidence my… Anyone would have been fined for posting videos like this. But he is Lewis Hamilton so he got away with it. Fine the little ** for at least 6 figures.

Blame the police not him, he isn’t going to fine himself. No need for name calling.
