McLaren P1 'Has Beaten' Porsche's Nürburgring Lap Record By 10 Seconds
McLaren has reportedly snatched the Nürburgring-Nordschleife lap record for production cars by a massive 10 seconds from Porsche.
The McLaren P1's unofficial time of 06min 47sec tears the crown off the 918 Spyder hypercar's head, a record it's only had to its name since September 4 2013.
While McLaren remains tight-lipped about the lap record, we're expecting a glowing press release and accompanying official video of the lap to be with us in the coming weeks.

Until then, here's amateur video footage of the unofficial 06:47 lap time as uploaded by YouTuber Swsthebest1994.
McLaren's official stats of the P1 hypercar make for some interesting reading. The car's 3.8-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 and electric motor produce a combined 908bhp.
The P1 can hit 0-62mph in just 2.8secs, 124mph in 6.8secs and will top out at a limited 217mph. Crucially too, the hypercar's massive stoppers enable the P1 to decelerate from 62-0mph in just 30.2m – less than a third of the distance required by the Highway Code. Just the thing for a Nürburgring-Nordschleife lap record, then...
Well done McLaren, you've unofficially done Britain proud!
