McLaren Will Now Sell You A Stiffer, Harder 570GT
Bear with us on this one. McLaren will now sell you a harder, sharper version of a softer, more compliant version of a detuned hard, sharp sports car derived from a full-fat flagship sports car that the company doesn’t sell anymore.
It’s amazing what bizarre shenanigans car makers can sometimes get away with. Either that or it’s amazing how silly buyers of expensive cars can be. Whichever it is, McLaren has stiffened and tautened the 570GT with the optional S Handling Pack, which gives the softer, more everyday-friendly GT the dynamic feel of the 570S.
The upgrade pack has stiffer springs by 15 per cent at the front and 10 per cent out back. The steering rack is a whopping two per cent faster. At least the changes aren’t as extreme as the Novitec ones.
Perhaps we’re missing something, but it does seem to us like there’s already a car on the 570 roster that might meet the brief of feeling like a 570S; the 570S. But according to Autocar, buyers have been asking McLaren to combine the microscopically subtler looks and extra luggage space of the 570GT with the driving experience of the S.
Some 80 per cent of 570 sales are GTs and McLaren expects that 60 per cent of those will now be ordered with the £4900 S Handling Pack. Reading between the lines on this, McLaren’s buyers might be telling the company exactly what they’d have liked it to have done with the 570 in the first place…

The stiffer and harder the more fun it is……
🤦♂️ wow
How to make things awkward 101 lmao
Ha!Gaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
It’s the McLaren 570GTS now, I guess.
I just thought that!
Get ready for the 570 T and 570 Touring…
Now introducing the McLaren 570 GTS SV Maloo SRT & Knuckles.
But will the 570S get a GT Handling Pack that will make it a bit softer?
Hope not lmao
It’ll get an SUV Pack that raises it 40cm and comes standard with all-terrain tyres
Wasn’t the 570GT a softer Version of the 570S in first place? So now you’re buying a stiffer version of the softer version of the 570S.
Yeah that’s exactly what the article said.
The GT rear glass window makes the roof line flows way better than the S, to be honest. Also, you get more boot space rather than only a slab of carbon fibre. Of course, it’s a different case if the rear deck displays the engine. So I think McLaren’s decision is quite logical.
I think McLaren took some inspiration from Novitec, who also did pretty much the same thing.
Yep, I linked to that one in the piece. At least McLaren left the wheels alone instead of jamming the absolute largest possible beneath the arches. The official car should ride better.
Am I the only one who remembers the Novitec one? https://www.carthrottle.com/post/tuner-novitec-has-given-the-mclaren-570gt-hilariously-pointless-mods/
Linked to that in the piece!
😏
I also prefer the gt over the s. Just because of the glass back
Not bad…I might have to get one insert I can’t afford it here
