The Cupra Ateca, the young performance brand’s first hot SUV, has been leaked to the Internet. Yep, another leak.

Two low-res pics have been leaked by MQB Coding, showing the compact SUV with its new badge, two-tone wheels and black mirror housings. The styling is maybe less aggressive than it could be, but we’re led to believe that the car shares the Leon Cupra’s ballistic 296bhp turbocharged engine.

The Quad-Exhaust Cupra Ateca SUV Has Been Leaked

We’re led to believe that the car shares the Leon Cupra’s ballistic turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine, but what’s not clear is the state of tune it will get. The most recent Leon has 296bhp, but higher- and lower-powered versions have been sold in other cars.

Autocar claims to have seen the rev counter as well, and reports an 8000rpm redline – although we find that one hard to believe. Both front- and four-wheel drive options are open to Cupra because the Leon offers both. We’ll be able to bring you more on this later today after we see the car for ourselves.

Ugh, the branding makes it look like a cheap gaming headset. What happened to Spanish flair?
