Rimac Is Planning A Second, Even Faster Electric Hypercar

As if the Concept One wasn't fast enough, having almost killed Richard Hammond, the Croatian company is planning a second, faster model - and this one will be built in greater numbers
Rimac Is Planning A Second, Even Faster Electric Hypercar

Rimac has confirmed that it’s working on a second electric hypercar, and it’s going to be even more powerful – and faster – than the insane Concept One in which Richard Hammond got it a bit wrong at a Swiss hill-climb.

For now it’s just called the Concept Two, but according to a report in Autocar it ‘definitely’ won’t be called that. Its aim will be to provide ‘comfortable luxury,’ but it will still be a two-seater despite being slightly larger than the Concept One.

We don’t have photos or spec, yet, but the One has 1224bhp and 1180lb ft, which gives an idea of the kind of benchmark the Concept Two project has to move with. The 0-62mph standing launch takes just 2.5 seconds. Driving range will improve as well, with 205 miles the figure to beat, but that’s just a consequence of larger batteries rather than responding to customer demand.

The bigger news we have at this stage is that while only eight Concept Ones were built, plus two track-focused Concept S models with massive aero gains, Rimac is planning a production run of 100 examples of the new car. Hardly likely to make them as common as Teslas, at this stage.

This comes as Rimac upscales its business supplying hybrid system batteries to Koenigsegg and both batteries and infotainment systems for the Aston Martin Valkyrie.

There’s no word yet on when the Two project will go into production, but Autocar says that the firm will reveal the car in the first half of next year, potentially paving the way for summer deliveries. As for the price, if you have to ask…

I can tell you it will be based on a carbon fibre tub (monocoque) chassis. It won’t be based, therefore, on the project one chassis-wise, completely new project. Expect more power too.

So…I can technically use any Rimac to tow trailers with that kind of torque! And go fast (with or without!) the trailer too!

“Rimac Is Planning A Second, Even Faster Electric Hypercar” which Richard Hammond isn’t allowed to even look at.
