The Sexiest Cars I Have Seen in 2016: IMSA Weathertech Sports Car Series Sneak Peek

Contrary to what some people may believe, I am interested in far more than just rally. While I love rally, I cannot help but love IMSA Weathertech series.

Contrary to what some people may believe, I am interested in far more than just rally. While I love rally, I cannot help but love IMSA Weathertech series.

I have followed the series for years. The racing is fun and interesting. The cars sound cool (but I miss the three rotor RX-8s, spitting fire and screaming around the track so loudly that they shake your bones from kilometers away) and the styling is fantastic.

I’m not going to compare the two motorsports. They’re different things. I know I prefer the community and the adrenalin of rally sport, but I prefer the fun of endurance racing in other ways. There’s less goofy business and more serious work, but I like both.

Thing is, the cars and tracks of endurance racing are awesome. I have driven - in virtual form or real life (Canadian Tire Motorsports Park) every course on the 2016 IMSA Weathertech Sports Car Series championship. Trust me, the tracks are spectacular. My favourites are Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, Virginia International Raceway and Watkins Glen.

You see, the best part is that IMSA actually posts their races at the end of the season on their YouTube page. The coverage is, therefore, very good. Every year, the official IMSA page will post coverage.

People in North America can attend the races - I was on safety crew duty at a track adjacent to the GP track of Canadian Tire Motorsports Park, and therefore I had the sounds of these cars as a background music. I can tell you, it’s fantastic experience.

Whether or not you can attend the races is largely irrelevant: it’s still cool

Here’s a link to their YouTube page so you can get caught up on what happened in 2015…:

I didn't know of any Lamborghinis running the 24 Hours of Daytona, so this was a pleasant surprise!

For those in USA and Canada, you can tune into Fox Sports channels, 1 or 2, to see the full season on there…

I know that I will be watching it this year…

Note: I am not receiving financial compensation or anything. I am writing this because I like the series and I like the cars and tracks.

Someday, a CTzen will make a parody profile of you called WaterMelons. and its profile picture will be a subaru underwater.

That being said, I really liked your article, now I have a new racing series to watch.

Haha, thanks!

I wanna clarify: these photos, which I got from the IMSA Facebook page, are of a small percentage of only one class of cars. I think I will make another post in a few days - as the series’ 2016 re-début nears closer - explaining the rules and such.

But then again I already have The GC8 of Mt. Akina.

Hahaha, you would, too. I know it seems like a sponsored post, but nah! I just saw the photos IMSA posted on Facebook and wanted an excuse to post the photos! I expect these cars will very soon be gracing the Wallpapers community…

Still waiting for the Ford Angry Birds Pig to make its appearance…

Nice post. I’m a big sports car fan as well. I made the race at Laguna Seca last year and plan to hit Long Beach, Laguna Seca, & Road America next year! Go Ford!

Nice! I thought I saw a pattern, but then I saw Road America and thought “woah, from California to Wisconsin, now that’s a trip!”

Why the yellow lights?

GT cars get yellow lights to distinguish them from the other classes.

Today, I will write a big article about all of the classes - because there are four classes. A lot to see!
