The Skoda Element Is The Adorable Beach Buggy The World Needs Right Now

These days, the online world seems to be mostly full of scary things and overly-opinionated people shouting at each other. With that in mind, let us give you a few minutes of calming solace as we bring you something small, cute and utterly inoffensive: the Skoda Element.

It’s not - I’m afraid - a production car, rather a one-off piece of work created by a group of students from the Skoda Vocational School. Taking a Citigo and completely reworking the bodywork, the students have created a door-less, open-top, all-electric beach buggy, and it might just be the most adorable car we’ve ever seen.

It’s been given a 60mm increase in ground clearance, underbody protection and solar panels on the rear deck. The panels power a smart TV, a 400-watt sound system and - my favourite part - an electric cool box. How can you not love this thing?

The Element - the fourth vehicle built by the Skoda Vocational School - is powered by an 81bhp electric motor, powering it from 0-62mph in a leisurely 13 seconds. The 18.7 kWh battery under the floor gives a range of up to 100 miles, dependent on how you drive/how many drinks you stuff in the cool box.

The roofless design isn’t the only thing that didn’t have protection.

I beg to differ, we once smashed a Seat Leon estate down a gravel track and it worked fine. It slide on its bottom a bit but it is good for what it is

They should’ve called it the Beachgo, since it is based on a Citigo (which is meant for city driving) but its made for going to the beach
