Someone Is Attempting To Sell This Stretched Mazda Miata Pickup For A Ridiculous Price
America is the land of freedom, Chicken McNuggets and pickups. Whatever your poison, there are millions of heavyweight Dodge, Ford, Toyota and Chevrolet pickups mauling the streets every day, and practically every car maker who sells in America offers one.
So why this stretched Mazda Miata pickup exists, we’re not sure. We found it on Craigslist in Sacramento, California, for a very optimistic-sounding $6000 or best offer.
The front and back ends look like the owner tried to peel a black vinyl car cover off after being left in the sun for 12 months, only to find parts had stuck to the bodyshell. The wheels don’t really suit it and the load bay… well, why? Unless you were going to stick a hot tub in it, of which we’d totally approve.
Apparently the poor Miata has only done 22,000 miles, but we’d bet a cool English pound that it’s been clocked. Or maybe it’s gone right around the odometer, which still seems more likely than 22,000 genuine miles.
It’s currently under a ‘salvage’ title, denoting that it has been damaged and/or written off by an insurer. It was probably in a crash, after which its maker decided to do this. Still, much like the bodywork, the paperwork doesn’t look good. Would anyone (sanity assumed) actually buy this for anything like the asking price?

A fun to drive sports car you can commute in, stop at the home improvement center on the way home, and bring kayaks, snowboards, or camping gear out on the weekends?
For only $6k?
$20k can’t even buy you that on the used truck market.
More like -what’s not to love?
And - why can’t I buy this new (without moving to Australia)?
It won’t be fun to drive with added wheel base and weight, not to mention potential crash which may lead to God only knows what damage. Looks terrible too!
Thats nothing:
Well, where else are you gonna find an MX-5 ute?
