Super Saloon Fans Rejoice: The New Audi RS4 Will Be Available As A Four Door
We’re now pretty sure that the next RS4 will have a blown V6 - possibly using electric turbo technology - but there’s still a question mark over the body style. It was once an Audi trademark to offer its fastest cars only in estate form, but more recently, the German company has been pretty damn indecisive with this convention. The B7 RS4 and C6 RS6 broke tradition by being made as saloons, but the current versions of each have gone back to being Avant only.
For the next RS4, though, it’s looking like the saloon body style is indeed making a return. Speaking to Autocar, Audi chassis development chief Horst Glaser confirmed that the RS4 will be here as soon as next year (it took the outgoing A4 a lot longer to get the RS treatment), and that it’ll be offered as an estate and a saloon. It’s all to do with demand from the US and China, where saloons enjoy more popularity than they do in Europe.
So, given the choice, which would you pick: saloon or Avant?
