There’s Finally A Release Window For Gran Turismo Sport

It’s been quite a while since Gran Turismo Sport was officially launched, and some time since the release date was postponed from November 2016 to an unspecified 2017 date.

Well, we still don’t have an actual release day locked in, but at E3 a release window of autumn 2017 has now been confirmed. Which is something, at least.

E3 also brought two new trailers featuring gameplay footage, which – we have to admit – does look absolutely stunning. We’re still pretty hyped for the game.

One of the trailers reveals the new theme music for the next instalment of the massive racing game franchise, which is a nice little detail.

Polyphony Digital does say details on the actual release date for GT Sport “are planned to be announced soon”, which we hope is encouraging, but we have to admit it might actually mean nothing.

The E3 trailers showcased some cars we haven’t really seen in previous GT Sport media, such as the Honda NSX, Lamborghini Huracan, Volkswagen Beetle (oh joy) and Dodge Viper.

GT Sport promises improved graphics, physics and sounds, plus new FIA online championships, tracks such as “Tokyo Expressway” and lots of cars – including Porsches for the first time ever in a Gran Turismo game.

GT Sport will be ok. but there are a few things fishy about it. For example: There isnt any car in the game that is older than 2010. There arent many cars in the game either. I bet GT Sport is just a little snack and Polyphony is working on GT7 right now. GT Sport will be something like GT HD concept but bigger. So my guess is that GT Sport is only the base for the upcoming GT7. Well I will definitly wait for GT7.

Kazunori Yamauch (the game’s lead developer) said in an interview that Gran Turismo Sport is not to be thought of as a prologue game - despite the name. Instead, he claims it will be “much more than a prologue type experience”, and “you can consider it as Gran Turismo 7”. Tbh I don’t really understand the point of calling it GT Sport, rather than GT7, (probably for marketing or something) but I have my doubts about a GT7 in the near future.

Yay, WMMT on a PS4. Maybe they meant the Wangan.
