The Toyota GR Supra GT4 100 Edition Will Be Rarer Than Most Hypercars

The Toyota GR Supra GT4 has proven itself as a very successful racing car, both in terms of on-track and sales performance. Toyota recently delivered its 100th example, so to mark the occasion, there’s a special version of the GT4 car “aimed specifically at collectors”.

It’s not homologated for either GT4 regulations or road use, so the ‘GR Supra GT4 100 Edition’ is something you’ll have to use exclusively on track days. A little limiting, then, but Toyota isn’t going to be selling loads of these, because there are only three available - one for Europe, one for North America, and one for Asia. It’s described, quite rightly, as “one of the rarest Toyota vehicles ever launched”.

It’s finished in the same Plasma Orange as its road-going counterpart, the GT4 100th Edition Tribute, which Toyota is making - for hopefully obvious reasons - 100 of. The 100 Edition looks considerably angrier thanks to its GT4-spec aero package, enhanced further with bits and pieces you won’t find on the racer.

There’s a larger bonnet vent, new dive planes at the front, carbon fibre wing mirrors, and a new exhaust system which doesn’t have a silencer, helping “amplify the satisfying, throaty roar” of the BMW-borrowed 3.0-litre turbocharged straight-six, Toyota says. Oh, and that engine will be painted in Plasma Orange too. Snazzy.

Unlike the racer, it’s a two-seater, so you can be accompanied by a co-driver during your on-track jaunts. The two seats have embroidered 100 Edition logos on the backrests.

Inevitably, it’s not cheap, weighing in at €220,000 (just under £190,000) plus taxes and delivery. The standard GR Supra GT4, for comparison, is €186,000 before taxes and delivery are foisted on top.

Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe’s customer racing boss Hendrik Schietzel has this to say about the new car:
