The US Wants To Massively Reduce German Car Imports
Donald Trump wants to massively cut the number of German cars being sold in America, according to reports in German media.
In a meeting with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council President Donald Tusk, where journalists were present, the American President is quoted as saying:
“The Germans are bad, very bad. See the millions of cars they are selling in the US. Terrible. We will stop this.”
Several German newspapers have reported the quotes, along with suggesting that the current American government ‘still doesn’t understand’ that the EU is unable to renegotiate trade deals on a country-by-country basis.
President Trump has previously said that he would tax German manufacturers an additional 35 per cent if they wanted to sell cars in the US, making them vastly more expensive than any American rivals.
We can’t imagine that VAG, BMW Group and Mercedes are too pleased at the idea, but ultimately it could be counter-productive for America anyway if the wealthy German companies invest in jobs elsewhere instead. We have to wonder how Trump might like the sound of billions of dollars being pumped into China instead of the US, but hey, we’re not politicians.

If nobody buys American cars, then you have to build better cars. That’s how our market economy works. So sad.
No some american cars are better than european however every fifth man in the world knows about cars so the remaining 4 still buy european no matter of quality. That’s the problem

I’m from the US and like all cars: JDM, Euro and American cars. I wouldn’t restrict german cars because of the quality
