The US Wants To Massively Reduce German Car Imports
Donald Trump wants to massively cut the number of German cars being sold in America, according to reports in German media.
In a meeting with European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Council President Donald Tusk, where journalists were present, the American President is quoted as saying:
“The Germans are bad, very bad. See the millions of cars they are selling in the US. Terrible. We will stop this.”
Several German newspapers have reported the quotes, along with suggesting that the current American government ‘still doesn’t understand’ that the EU is unable to renegotiate trade deals on a country-by-country basis.
President Trump has previously said that he would tax German manufacturers an additional 35 per cent if they wanted to sell cars in the US, making them vastly more expensive than any American rivals.
We can’t imagine that VAG, BMW Group and Mercedes are too pleased at the idea, but ultimately it could be counter-productive for America anyway if the wealthy German companies invest in jobs elsewhere instead. We have to wonder how Trump might like the sound of billions of dollars being pumped into China instead of the US, but hey, we’re not politicians.

Dear people from other countries, especially Europe,
Very few people in the U.S. actually like Trump. I don’t like him So don’t worry. A lot of us are not that dumb. Personally, I’m not proud of the cars that our country is making (aside from the Mustang and Dodge Demon), and I would rather have a German car, a British car, a Japanese car, a Korean car and a bunch of other foreign cars than cars that come from our country. The heyday of the American car was long ago and maybe it might come again.

He wants to put a tax cars made by German manufacturers. Is Trump not aware that the BMW X3, X4, X5 and X6 is made in South Carolina? And that the Mercedes GLE, GLS, and some C Class models are made in Alabama? And that VW has a factory in Tennessee? If he puts taxes these German-badged cars, and people buy less of them, American employees at these factories will be at risk of losing their jobs.
