This Used 997 Porsche 911 Carrera Is A Scintillating Sports Car For Just £23k

Today, part of TeamCT is in Germany, driving around in all sorts of hot Porsche metal on track. We’ve been reminded of just how good the 911 is as a sports car, and how badly we want one. With that in mind, those of us back at CT HQ holding the fort have been off to the classifieds to look for our ideal 911 on a budget.

The cheapest used 911s are from the 996 generation, but these cars are prone to developing very expensive issues such as cracked cylinder liners. A car from the following generation, 997, is a much safer bet, with longer service intervals (20,000 miles) and better reliability.

With prices starting at around £20,000, these cars offer a serious amount of performance for the money. The rear-mounted, 3.6-litre flat-sixes found in early 997s develop 340bhp and 273lb ft of torque, which is enough to send you from 0-62mph in just 4.8 seconds, and on to a top speed of 177mph.

This one could be worth a look. It’s done a reasonably low 61,000 miles, has a full service history, and is up for £23,950. A 997 will never be hugely cheap to run, but so long as you budget carefully and keep some money aside for servicing and unexpected bills, you’ll have an incredible car that’ll reward you with a supreme driving experience.
