Was The Second Episode Of Top Gear An Improvement Over The First?

From the shouting to the long and seemingly pointless Reliant challenge, it was clear you guys found a lot to dislike about Top Gear post-revamp when watching the first episode. But you know what? I actually enjoyed the second episode.

Sure, it’s clear Evans has work to do when it comes to telling an audience about a car in an insightful way (he is new to this, so should be cut a little slack) and can still come across as irritating, but the McLaren feature was good to watch, and the SUV challenge genuinely enjoyable.

Comments in the CT live discussion seemed much more positive too, so we thought we’d put it to a vote to see exactly what you guys thought:

To be honest, I wouldn’t say it was a massive improvement (like that crossover challenge was quite boring for me), but it was better
I really, really enjoyed the 675LT review, especially the part with Jenson. He is amazing, I wish he was there instead of Evans
So 6/10 for me I’d say

What I don’t understand is why offer Chris Evans the role to lead the show when hes not good enough.

I’d say it was a massive improvement, but it’s still like having your doctor tell you that you’re diagnosed with lung disease and then say “At least it’s not cancer”. Still has a long way to go but at least we’re seeing improvements. Hopefully IF they manage to even do a season two they’ll get rid of that evans c*nt

What we’ve learnt from last night’s episode is that Jenson Button would’ve made a fantastic presenter….

The mclaren bit was cool and watching with my dad we did find the suv challenge funny at times. There wasn’t a lot about the cars though. Before when Top Gear have done one of those three car features the challenges and commentary from the presenters was all about picking out the pros and cons of each car. This one just felt like an advert for the cars, the only thing I learned was that the merc was a bit less powerful…
