Was The Second Episode Of Top Gear An Improvement Over The First?
From the shouting to the long and seemingly pointless Reliant challenge, it was clear you guys found a lot to dislike about Top Gear post-revamp when watching the first episode. But you know what? I actually enjoyed the second episode.
Sure, it’s clear Evans has work to do when it comes to telling an audience about a car in an insightful way (he is new to this, so should be cut a little slack) and can still come across as irritating, but the McLaren feature was good to watch, and the SUV challenge genuinely enjoyable.
Comments in the CT live discussion seemed much more positive too, so we thought we’d put it to a vote to see exactly what you guys thought:

Sounds like the same effect of a new Doctor in Doctor Who: People are wary, hateful, forget that the previous Doctor did all this, but after his first season it’s all good and we’re all used to it!
^
Only with Doctor Who, thats expected to happen :P
I dont watch it as Original Top-Gear, I watch it as a new tv show while I am waiting for the trio to come back. Original TG is now GT.
Think of it as the new fifth gear haha
Still a lot of shouting, (camoon he shouted over f1) but way better on guys chemistry, and not so distant Evans this time, it seems that he is a real car guy and has real emotions. And the show seemed to be a lot less scripted. And thanks to that the show was much more appealing this time. Didn’t want to quit after first minutes, it says a lot.
Yeah definitely an improvement only issues for me were that there were too many people in the rally car segment so I skipped that (but I usually skipped the star in the reasonably priced car in the old TG) and I wish they went with some more exciting SUVs, they should have taken the F Pace 3.0 s/c, Macan Turbo and the GLC43…not the 3 diesels!
But the best thing of the show was the news at the very end that Harris and Rory WILL be making it to the main show, which I didn’t actually know would be happening.
It’s was better but that still does not mean it’s good. Seriously then need to give things a back story, also they should do some old/used car challenge. They could get rid of that ginger idiot too while they are at it
Best episode from the last 2 years of topgear
I think it was also maybe the fact they did not ask for an audition as hes a big personailty worked/works for BBC already. The fact he could not drive hard and talk is shocking, was very obvious on the first show with mostly voice over.
boo
I didn’t watch it
Then why comment?
Definitely a big improvement on last weeks, the less Chris tries to be like Jeremy the better it’ll get I think. The new format also seems to be an on-going thing, they didn’t seem to spend so long on the whole first car, best car section which was nice!
Assuming next weeks see’s the same continuous improvement then it’ll be onto a winner soon enough!
