Watch And Hear The New Toyota Supra In Action For The First Time

Yes, the actual MkV Toyota Supra has been caught on video, giving us our first chance to hear its powertrain

Just a couple of weeks after being snapped by spy photographers, the all-new Toyota Supra has been spotted again - and this time it was caught on video.

It certainly sounds like it’s packing six-cylinder power, potentially a straight-six. Listen carefully, and you’ll also hear a faint whine which might belong to an electric motor, adding credence to all those rumours that the new Supra will be a hybrid. Power wise, we can expect the package to put out around 400bhp.

As a reminder, Toyota is developing this brand new sports car with BMW - hence why the mule was spotted leaving and entering the BMW M Test Center at the Nurburgring. BMW’s end of the deal will be a soft top likely to be christened ‘Z5’, while Toyota’s version will be a tin top.

Although the revival of the name ‘Supra’ hasn’t been confirmed for the car, it’s deemed highly likely judging by comments from Toyota’s top brass and the decision to trademark ‘Toyota Supra’ in Europe earlier this year. The car should look something like Toyota’s FT-1 concept (above).

Upsetting to see it pull into a bmw facility. Toyota shouldn’t lower their standards like that.

With all the people commenting sounds, then the mule cars usually have exhausts quite restricted aswell. Depending on the situation, if they need to test city driving, they usually mess with the exhausts aswell or just haven’t gotten there yet. Most mule cars never sound the same as the factory cars later on ;)

When is it expected to come out though? Like early next year, mid next year, late next year…?

Exactly and this mule could be an HVAC mule for all we know! Which barely even needs an engine to do some testing…

change out those taillights to something more akin to the Z4 or the old Mk4 Supra’s and I’m jumping right on that
