Watch A Crazy Tesla-Powered Kit Car Tear Down The Quarter-Mile

With a Tesla P85-sourced drive unit putting out around 400bhp in a fibreglass kit car package, this is one potent little EV!

It’s been about four years since the Tesla Roadster went out of production, so what if you want bonkers electrical power in a sports car package now? Ottawa-based Eurodyne and Tapp Auto have one solution, which involves taking a Factory Five Racing 818 fibreglass kit car, and stuffing in a rear-wheel drive P85 drive unit hooked up to a pair of Chevrolet Volt battery packs.

It’s producing somewhere in the region of 400bhp, and at just over 1100kg it’s a damn sight lighter than a Tesla. It means the electric 818 is able to lay down a respectable 10 second quarter-mile, although Eurodyne reckons a nine second pass is possible.

So I’m guessing the disclaimer with this kit car was “battery’s not included”
