Watch A Pro Rally Driver Try Three Stages On The WRC 7 Game
Codemasters’ DiRT series of games are pretty epic way for gamers to get their virtual hands dirty with a spot of rallying, but if you want an officially licensed experience of the World Rally Championship then only the official WRC franchise will do.
BigBen Interactive’s latest instalment in the series, WRC 7, will allow you to take part on 55 stages across 13 locations, all based on their real-world counterparts.
Of course, it also features the new generation of bonkers WRC cars which were introduced this year which even the FIA said were too fast (as if that’s even a thing), with representation from the four manufacturers - Citroen, Ford, Hyundai, and Toyota.
To promote the game, current Citroen WRC driver Stéphane Lefebvre tackled three very different stages. First up is a stage from snowy Sweden, where the high-speed nature of the roads looks like a great way to experience the extra power and downforce of the current WRC cars.
Next up are the narrow and winding roads of Corsica, which is one of just two tarmac rallies left in the championship. If the bumpy roads and difficult camber don’t get you, that low sun will - better pay close attention to those pace notes!
Finally, we have the rocky gravel terrain of Argentina, where any errors will be met with either a nice big rock or - if you’re unlucky - a sheer drop off the edge. As a bonus, we also get a small camera shot of Lefebvre doing his thing.
It looks pretty good! And these are only the regular stages - WRC 7 will also see the introduction of what it calls ‘epic stages’, which will last for more than 15 minutes and really put your powers of concentration and driving skill to the test.
The game released in Europe on PC, Xbox One and PS4 on 15 September, but gamers in North America will have to wait until 26 September to get their hands on it.
