What Does It Take To Build The The World's Fastest Supra?

Take a gorgeous behind-the-scenes glimpse at the graft and greatness that goes into creating one of the world's greatest drag cars

Thanks to memes, YouTube comments, and even some casual racism, it's easy to mock tuner cars, drag racing, and yes, another Toyota Supra that thinks it's fast enough to outdrag Marty McFly's DeLorean through the space-time continuum. But you have to admit, when a 2JZ-powered Supra runs a 6.23sec quarter mile at 227.7mph, you want to know more. Here's the run, cynics.

And here you are, scrolling down the page, hungry to know more. Gotcha! That's why we're suckers for this lovely mini-film covering the back story of the Titan Motosports/E Kanoo Racing Supra. Drag racing might still scream 'American, f**k yeah', but here you are looking at a Japanese car owned by a Bahrain-based team, driven by an American in Bahrain itself. There's something wonderfully multi-cultural about all that, without going too political on you...

I'm a cynic too: to me, this sort of isn't really a Supra any more. It's got the right headlights and a vaguely Supra-style body, but this Suprahero is so extensively stripped-out, caged up and obviously tuned it's hard to see what's left of the original car, other than its 'I Want To Go Fast' soul. Maybe that's enough. It's like Wembley Stadium, in a way. Nothing remains of the classic old arena where England won the 1966 World Cup, but the shiny new amphitheater is still the home of England's beautiful game.

Plus, at the heart of the Titan Motorsports Supra is actually an OEM Toyota 2JZ block and head, pushing out more than 1000hp. Alabama-resident driver Gary White is a Supra enthusiast himself, owning a white 1994 example running a 68mm turbo and manual transmission, but the E Kanoo car with its 10.5in-wide rear slicks is a different league of fast. Not bad for an automatic, is it? Enjoy the full mini--movie below.
